76ers Owner Blasts Meek Mill’s Probation Judge for Denying Rapper Trip to Canada to Watch Philly in Playoffs: ‘You Have a Vendetta’
On Saturday, Rubin blasted Brinkley after he learned Mill wouldn’t be allowed to travel with the Sixers to watch them play the Toronto Raptors in Canada for the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
Brinkley was the judge who sentenced Mill to prison in 2008 when he was arrested on a drug and weapons charge. And in 2016 she sentenced him to two to four years in prison for probation violation.
All along, many have slammed the judge for her handling of Mill, including people like Jay-Z, and in 2017 she was investigated by the FBI for her handling of his case.
And in Rubin’s message, he said that Mill made his travel request in a timely manner, but Brinkley still ignored it.
“Judge Genece Brinkley – I know you have a vendetta against Meek Mill and are obsessed with trying to control every aspect of his life, but did you really NOT approve him to go to rep the sixers in Toronto for the game?” he wrote on Instagram. “As soon as the schedule came out, Meek asked probation for approval- they immediately approved!”
“We filed w/your court as soon as the schedule came out since you need to approve travel to Canada!” he added. “Since you didn’t respond to numerous phone calls and emails we even sent a lawyer to the courthouse today!!”
Rubin ended his message by stating people without the rapper’s fame and money have it far worse.
“AND MOST IMPORTANTLY IF THIS HAPPENS TO MEEK, WHAT DO YOU THINK HAPPENS TO THE AVG PERSON(WHO CANT AFFORD GREAT LAWYERS ETC) ON PROBATION??”
Rubin has been a huge supporter of Meek for quite some time, and he’s one of the people involved in The Reform Alliance, an organization started by himself, Jay-Z, Meek and others to improve probation and parole laws.
Rubin also sent Mill a private helicopter when the rapper was released from prison in April of last year.
Plus, besides Rubin, Drake who was once Mill’s foe, sent a message about the judge denying his travel request as well.
“They gotta let Meek into the city, it’s only right,” wrote Drake. “We got a classic series on our hands.”
