Alicia Keys Honors The Black Lives Matter Movement During 2020 BET Awards Performance
Just yesterday, Alicia Keys delivered a powerful message during her performance at the 2020 BET Awards.
The awards, which were held virtually included performances by many artists such as Megan Thee Stallion, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Chloe x Halle, and more.
During Alicia Key’s performance, there was a portrait of Sandra Bland – a 28-year-old woman who was found dead just days after being arrested. Keys concluded the performance by standing up at her piano and kneeling in the middle of the street to show her support for the Black Lives Matter movement and Colin Kaepernick.
Keys then took it to social media to share the meaning of her song and how it affected her.
Throughout the evening, there were many tributes given. Jennifer Hudson’s performance paid tribute to the late Aretha Franklin. Kobe Bryant was honored with a special performance by Lil Wayne while Wayne Brady delivered a medley of the late Little Richard’s greatest hits.
