Donald Trump’s made his first State of the Union address Tuesday, Jan. 30 and he boasted about boosting the economy, GOP tax cuts and toughening up on immigration. He also made time to take a shot at the NFL for its player protests.
And celebrities were not impressed.
Shonda Rhimes simply tweeted “THIS” and linked to a Shondaland.com article about how to watch the SOTU.
“Consider supporting candidates who will change the picture,” it noted.
Actress Gabrielle Union simply used “” to emphasize a tweet from a health care columnist with The Hill reading, “Immigrants aren’t the problem in this country. Racists are.”
“Only sure way to dump this utter garbage of a Presidency* onto the landfill of history is to communicate, inspire, organize, register, fight & VOTE!!!” “Westworld” star Jefferey Wright tweeted. “We are ALL better than this, even if too many seem to think this is our best. Midterm elections Nov 6, 2018. Start the work now!!”
Larry Wilmore pointed out what many Black people were feeling.
“Black people are not impressed!#SOTU,” he tweeted.
Meanwhile, Chance The Rapper didn’t even tune in, Questlove wanted it to be over and Wright ultimately turned the speech off.
Plus Arsenio Hall hoped first lady Melania Trump would use the speech to signal for her rescue.
