It appears that Scandal creator Shonda Rhimes made the right decision by firing actor Columbus Short from the show if she didn’t want the show’s current cast wrapped in negative publicity.
The former “Scandal” actor Short was arrested again on Saturday morning. Short was charged with public intoxication at about 2 a.m. at a Dallas bar and restaurant called Katy Trail Ice House, according to police.
Police spokesman Warren Mitchell did not have any details about whether Short was released from police custody.
Eyewitnesses told TMZ that the 31-year-old made it appear as if he were about to skip out on his bar tab. The venue’s security approached Short about the unpaid tab and a physical altercation broke out.
Thanks to the quick reaction of several off duty police officers, the scuffle didn’t last long. It is unclear if Short will be slapped with any other charges related to the brief brawl.
His publicist refused to make a comment to CNN Saturday evening.
In March, he was accused of punching and knocking out a patron at a West Los Angeles restaurant.
He pled not guilty to a felony charge of battery in that case.
According to documents filed by Short’s estranged wife back in April, the actor had two other arrests related to violence before the scuffle in West Los Angeles.
In addition to racking up arrests for physical altercations, Short has also been accused of threatening to kill his wife and trashing their marital home.
Tanee McCall filed for a restraining order against Short, in addition to filing for divorce after nearly nine years of marriage. The restraining order also requests that Short have no contact with their 2-year-old daughter.
At the time, Short said he did not want to speak much about all the alleged acts of violence because his legal team recommended him not to.
“As you all know, lately my personal life has been subjected to a lot of press,” he said in April. “As much as I would like to provide my side of events, my counsel has instructed me that a court of law is the only and proper venue to deal with such matters.”
