George Foreman Speaks Out After Sudden Death of Daughter Freeda Foreman at 42
The daughter of two-time world heavyweight boxing champion George Foreman has died.
Freeda Foreman, a former professional boxer herself, was found dead in her home over the weekend at age 42, sources told KPRC-TV Saturday, March 9.
Officers with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to Freeda Foreman’s home in Atascocita, Texas, at around 6:13 p.m. Friday regarding reports of suicide, the news outlet reported. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that a family member discovered her body and they are awaiting a report from the coroner’s office regarding a cause of death. However, no foul play is suspected.
A spokesperson for the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office also told TMZ they suspect suicide is at play. Sources with knowledge of the probe told the entertainment site it appears the ex-boxer died of asphyxiation as signs point to hanging.
The elder Foreman, who says he has 10 kids in all, took to Twitter over the weekend to describe his grief.
“Heaven send so many wonders; too many to have questions about any one thing or event in my life. Lippizana colt just born on the ranch,” he initially tweeted in the early hours of Sunday, March 10.
By that evening he tweeted a shadow box complete with a stole and a photo of the pair at Freeda Foreman’s college graduation writing in confirmation of her passing, “Daddy I want to Box, ‘Get an Education first’ I said, well she Brought The bacon home ( degree) 2 Kids 3 Grands (Husband) First Sunday in 42 years without my Freeda. Following in her dad’s footsteps, Freeda Foreman was a professional boxer in her own right for a brief period. She competed in the middleweight division and had a 5-1 record before her retirement in 2001.
Afterward, Freeda Foreman had a voice acting role on a 2003 episode of “King of the Hill” called “Boxing Luanne” on which her dad also appeared. More recently, she focused on her life with her family and hoped to make an impact on the criminal justice system.
“Aside from my love of family, being a good mother, wife, and friend, I aspire to make a positive difference in our American Criminal Justice System,” her Twitter bio reads. A LinkedIn page bearing her name states she was obtaining a master’s of science degree in criminal justice and corrections from Sam Houston State University.
“She loved to be close to me, she loved to be up under me,” Freeda Foreman’s mother, Andrea Skeete, told KHOU Saturday. “She loved to cuddle with me, where ever we were.”
“She defended me, she always defended me,” Freeda Foreman’s oldest daughter, Justice Green, 24, tearfully told the news station.
Freeda Foreman is survived by her mother, father, husband, two daughters, three grandchildren and nine siblings.
