Hugh Dancy has been picked to play in the NBC series Hannibal.
The British actor will play FBI agent Will Graham on the TV drama, which will feature characters from Thomas Harris’ Red Dragon novel.
Back in 1991, the character of Dr. Hannibal Lecter appeared on screen in The Silence of the Lambs. The actor, Anthony Hopkins reprised his role in its sequel, Hannibal in 2001, and in the adaptation of the trilogy, Red Dragon, in 2002.
According to sources, the Hannibal TV show is described as an hour-long contemporary thriller and revolves around the FBI agent and his mentor, Dr. Hannibal Lecter, who are reintroduced at the beginning of their budding relationship (THR).
The TV show has already received a 13-episode order from NBC and will focus on the early days of Graham and his mentor Lecter’s relationship.
Martha DeLaurentiis will co-executive produce the series alongside Bryan Fuller. Fuller will also write the TV show.
