The nominations for the 62nd Grammy Awards were announced on Wednesday, and Nipsey Hussle was nominated in three different categories. It’s something the late rapper’s girlfriend Lauren London acknowledged on social media, and it seemed to touch a lot of people.

Hussle was nominated for Best Rap Performance, as well as Best Rap Song for his song “Racks in the Middle,” featuring Roddy Ricch. He also received a nod for Best Rap/Sung Performance for the cut “Higher” with DJ Khaled and John Legend.

London issued a message about the nominations on Thursday, next to a photo of Hussle, whom she shared a son with.

“Grammy nominated Nip. King Ermias,” is how the actress referred to the rapper. “Humbled I was around such Greatness. Love You Forever .”

To some, it may not seem like eight months since Hussle was shot and killed in South Los Angeles on March 31.

The shooting occurred in front of The Marathon Clothing store, which he owned. In fact, Hussle was giving a man named Kerry Lathan, who’d just got out of prison at the time, free clothes from the store when he was killed.

The suspect, Eric Holder, was arrested just two days later and held on $7 million bond. He was charged with one count of murder, one count of possession of a firearm by a felon and two counts of attempted murder, for also shooting Lathan and his nephew.

In October, Holder’s lawyer wanted the two attempted murder charges dropped, because he said they don’t align with the “Kill Zone” theory, which is based on whether the accused intended to shoot the other victims.

The theory also has to do with where the victims were in relation to the shooter’s actual target and the kind of weapon that was used.

After London posted her message about Hussle’s nominations, people expressed happiness about it.

“He deserves it now, and he definitely deserved it then,” someone wrote.

“R.I.H.King Gone but not ever forgotten,” wrote another of London’s followers.

“Love you both praying for you and your son ,” stated a third.

Others in the Best Rap Performance category are J. Cole for his song “Middle Child,” DaBaby for “Suge,” Dreamville’s “Down Bad,” as well as Offset and Cardi B‘s “Clout.”

For Best Rap Song, Hussle will compete against Chance the Rapper and YBN Cordae for their song “Bad Idea.” Plus, Rick Ross and Drake‘s “Gold Roses” was nominated, as well as 21 Savage and J. Cole’s ubiquitous cut “A lot” and DaBaby’s “Suge.”

And besides “Higher,” Lil Baby and Gunna‘s “Drip Too Hard” was nominated for Best Rap/Sung Performance, as was Lil Nas X‘s “Panini,” Mustard and Roddy Ricch’s “Ballin,” and Young Thug, J. Cole and Travis Scott‘s “The London.”
