Joseline Hernandez’s Joins in Ruth E. Carter’s Dance Challenge and Slays It: ‘You Killed This One’
Oscar-winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter took to her Instagram last week, urging Hollywood women to finish the month of March off with a fun yet empowering dance challenge, adding the hashtag “#WomenDancingTogether.”
“Ladies! Let’s have some fun for the rest of #WomensHistoryMonth and show the world when women unite anything is possible,” Carter said in an Instagram video on March 20. “Upload a video dancing and/or lip syncing to your favorite Women’s Empowerment Song. Use this same caption and nominate three women who inspire you to keep it going and don’t forget to use the hashtag #WomenDancingTogether .”
It’s unclear if Hernandez was nominated by one of her friends or family members to partake in the challenge, but the star came through with a dance video of her own. She took to Instagram on Tuesday, wearing a vibrant red silk top, Flamenco tutu skirt and black combat boots from PrettyLittleThing.
A friend of Hernandez appeared to be recording her walking down a Miami street as she swayed to Chaka Khan‘s single “Ain’t Nobody.” She wrote in her Instagram caption, “#womendancingtogetherchallenge.”
Fans of the self-proclaimed “Puerto Rican Princess” pointed out a white man in her video who seemed confused about why she was dancing on the sidewalk.
“Funny the dude in the back is so confused he’s shook!”
“Das me dude in the back distracted me the whole time i’m dying laughing!”
“Dude in the back looking like should I join in .”
Other said Hernandez slayed the new social media craze.
“Thank you bc I know i be feeling myself on a great day to work to !!!Just bust it down! Everyone can’t flex like you PRprincess .”
“Yessssss You slayed that! F–K IT UP BAE! @joseline .”
“I love it my girl you killed this one you did that. Who do you challenge next? Go girl !”
Hernandez was one of few celebrities who participated in Carter’s dance challenge. Actress Halle Berry, who Carter tagged in her initial post, epically joined in, shaking her hips to Destiny’s Child’s “Survivor.” She wrote in her IG post on Friday, “Thank you @therealruthecarter for challenging me this #WomensHistoryMonth to dance like I damn well please. This one goes out to the incredible female survivors I have encountered in my life, the women who have the tenacity to live on their own terms. … Let’s keep this going!”
