Now that they are both gone from us, Michael Jackson’s ex-bodyguard, Matt Fiddes, has come forward with a fanciful sounding tale that Michael and Whitney Houston were involved in a steamy love affair. Surely your first reaction is to think that this is some ridiculous made-up story from a supermarket tabloid, right?

Although the alleged affair only lasted for two weeks, Fiddes told The Sun that Jackson was completely enamored by the princess of pop to the point that he desperately wanted to marry Houston. He said the two icons became an item back in 1991. The affair began about six years after Houston’s one-year relationship with Jermaine Jackson ended.

“He was furious when he heard she had also slept with Jermaine but this didn’t stop him [from] holding a candle to her his whole life,” Fiddes said.

Apparently the feelings were mutual between the two icons. Fiddes claimed that Houston practically moved in to the Neverland Ranch in order to spend more time with Jackson. He believes that Houston was the one who ended the affair after two weeks, and then shortly after met another R&B superstar, Bobby Brown. Of course, Houston and Brown would later get married and become indulged in a life of drugs.

Years later in 2001, the secret lovers met again at Jackson’s Madison Square Garden performance in New York City. Although the affair had ended already, the feelings were still strong between the two. Fiddes described their brief reunion: “They were both a mess, to be honest… The two of them whispered that they loved each other as they hugged. The emotion was written all over their faces.” During the heartfelt encounter Fiddes also recalled Jackson begging Whitney Houston to give up the drugs that would later end her life. The mega stars didn’t know that this would be the last time they would share such a loving embrace before Michael Jackson’s unexpected death in 2009. Fiddes spoke with Michael just days before he passed away and claims that during this time Jackson revealed that he had never truly gotten over Houston. Less than three years later Houston would also succumb to a drug related death.

There are currently no other witnesses who claim to have any knowledge of the affair between Jackson and Houston, but the story does seem to be like something ripped from the pages of a tragic love novel. So we are all left to form our own opinion—truth or fiction?
