Fans are offering up their two cents after Tami Roman unfollowed “Basketball Wives” co-star Shaunie O’Neal on Instagram recently.
The change comes after an episode in which O’Neal had the bulk of the cast travel to a girls getaway in San Diego. But Roman was noticeably absent from the excursion.
Additionally, Roman expressed her desire to keep her marriage to longtime boyfriend Reggie Youngblood a secret on the season 8 premiere.
“I feel like I don’t really need to disclose that I’m married because I don’t know who will be genuinely happy, who would really care,” she said. “Rather than go through all those emotions and figure out who’s real and who’s not, I’ll just keep the s–t to myself.”
An episode or two later, however, Roman held a gathering of close friends and family — including Jackie Christie and Ogom “O.G.” Chijindu — to reveal she did, in fact, head off to Las Vegas and marry Youngblood in August 2018. But among those who were not present was O’Neal, who was one of the people Roman declined to invite.
Now, it seems that Roman may count O’Neal as one of her haters, as a search of those she follows on Instagram reveals the “Basketball Wives” executive producer is not among those Roman follows. Meanwhile, O’Neal continues to follow Roman.
Fans poured into the comments section with their feelings on the matter, largely dismissing it, since they say Roman and O’Neal were never pals.
“Shaunie is not her friend.”
“Shaunie is not a good friend to Tami and never has been. I’m glad tami’s been distancing herself from the toxic girls in the group.”
“So TF what. Tami just wants to be outta her contract si she don’t gotta fake be cordial with Shaunie. She knows Shaunie don’t f–k with her so Tami moving accordingly.”
“I been peeped how Shaunie switched on Tami .. last reunion was the proof and that’s period . ”
The switch comes several months after O’Neal affirmed that there were no issues between her and Roman, despite the latter being part of spreading the rumor that Evelyn Lozada slept with one of the EP’s exes.
“@tamiroman and I don’t have any beef… my entire life is not on IG,” O’Neal said in March.
Just days later, O’Neal confirmed that, despite speculation to the contrary, Roman would return to “Basketball Wives.” However, the mother of two claimed on the 2019 BET Awards red carpet that she won’t be re-upping her contract for the VH1 series.
“I’ve been doing this [the show] since 2010, and it’s just run its course for me in particular,” she said. “It takes a lot of time to film ‘Basketball Wives,’ we’re in that thing for six to seven months at a time, so I just wanted to have the opportunity to have some free time to do some other things.”
