“Black Panther” actress Dorothy Steel just got her big screen break in the blockbuster Marvel film and now she’s setting her sights on Steve Harvey. The 92-year-old actress hopes to appear on his program just as she was able to get into the $1.2 billion worldwide-grossing film.
“[I’m a] 92-year-old actor who dared to jump out there in faith … and landed a role in a billion-dollar movie called ‘Black Panther,'” she says in a Facebook video addressed to the talk show host. “I’m jumping out there again because I love you and your shows and I want to be on them! So don’t procrastinate, prognosticate and holla at me!”
The Atlanta-based actress told WSB-TV in February she didn’t start her career until she was 88 and got a call back from “Black Panther” producers an hour after sending in her audition tape. She went on to play the merchant elder in the film’s kingdom of Wakanda, who advises T’Challa.
“If anyone would have told me I would be an actor, I would’ve said you got to be out of your mind,” Steel said.
While Steel awaits word from Harvey, many have been sharing her inspiring story of never giving up on her dream on social media.
After deciding to pursue an acting career at age 88, Dorothy Steel landed a role in "Black Panther" at 91 years old. Last week, she celebrated 92nd birthday.
