Tommie Lee Sends Message to Fans from Jail Amid Concern of Her Mental Health
Tommie Lee remains behind bars after showing up drunk to court in March and she recently shared a message to fans who continue to bestow concern online.
The former “Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta” on Friday shared a message on her Instagram Story through a representative. In it, she thanked fans for their supportive messages, which she has been reading from jail.
“Tommie Lee will like to thank everyone that has been writing her she is receiving all your mail and photos and she’s thankful for all your love and support,” the memo read.
It also included a mailing address to the Cobb County Adult Detention Center to which fans can send their mail for the former reality TV star.
As Lee remains locked away, fans have been leaving comments on her last Instagram post begging for her freedom.
“Free the goon”
“FREE YOU TILL IT’S BACKWARDS SIS”
“I hope you free, friend…”
However, one fan said Lee is away getting the help she needs, noting the time away is good for her.
“Stop saying free her and let that woman get the help she need,” the follower remarked.
Lee has been jailed since March 21 when she arrived at a Cobb County, Georgia court for her criminal child abuse case and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol, police sources told TMZ at the time. As such, a judge ordered her to undergo an immediate test for drugs and alcohol.
By April 8, the website obtained legal documents from her team that disclosed they are attempting to enroll her in a mental health program. Lee states in the documents that she was diagnosed with a serious mental illness around the same time she was faced with felon child abuse charges in January. She could be sentenced to 54 years in prison as a result.
In seeking treatment, Lee says she’s willing to meet a host of requirements. They include staying sober, going to self-help meetings and submitting to random drug tests.
In total, the process of getting treatment will take 30 days. A committee, which includes a prosecutor, will review applications and decide what Lee will do over the course of a month.
Meanwhile, Lee’s exact mental health issue has not been made public. But Lee said on the webshow “Raq Rants” in 2016 that she is bipolar.
