Wendy Williams’ Husband Kevin Hunter Fired from Show After Host Boosts Security on Set
Wendy Williams has succeeded in getting her husband of more than 20 years Kevin Hunter axed from the show. But before then, she reportedly boosted the security presence on set when he remained as one of the executive producers of the show.
Three full-time bodyguards were hired to be on the set temporarily, sources tied to the show told TMZ Thursday, April 18.
The security team is said to have been tapped a week before she served Hunter with divorce papers because of several outbursts that led up to the filing. Insiders claim one even got so tense that Hunter had to be held back.
Williams served her spouse with divorce docs the morning of Thursday, April 11. Sources say Hunter didn’t have any outbursts then, but Williams had security on hand out of fear something could happen.
A report from the Daily Mail that emerged last week says Hunter has been fired as executive producer for “The Wendy Williams Show” and Williams’ manager.
On Thursday morning, TMZ confirmed that Hunter is out as Williams’ show’s EP.
“Kevin Hunter is no longer an executive producer on ‘The Wendy Williams Show,'” a spokesperson said April 18.
Previously, the outlet reported that Hunter and Williams were said to be working to come to an “accord” that would see Hunter relinquish his executive producer role.
The news follows Hunter releasing a statement in which he spoke out for the first time since his cheating scandal erupted. The latest is that he is rumored to have fathered a child last month with Sharina Hudson, the woman with whom he’s said to have carried out a decade-long affair.
“I have dedicated most of our lives to the business empire that is Wendy Williams Hunter, a person that I truly love and respect unconditionally,” he said in part, not confirming or denying the rumor of a love child. “I am not proud of my recent actions and take full accountability and apologize to my wife, my family and her amazing fans.”
